In life, we can seek all kinds of support and help… our local MP, our doctor, maybe even the Queen, or the Prime Minister… However, as Christians we seek the help of the One who is above all. Ever present to help and guide us.
At St Mark’s everything we do as a church family is dependent upon the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in prayer.
Our almighty Heavenly Father has such great riches to share with us, He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, everything in all the universe is at His disposal and beckon call.
Down Welsh history the beginning of a real turning to Jesus has always been a return to genuine and heartfelt prayer and dependence upon Him.
As Matthew Henry once said it so well:
‘When God intends great mercy for His people, the first thing He does is set them a-praying.’
There have been few in the history of the Church who achieved such remarkable things as John Wesley. And yet he knew a great deal about disappointment and failure. In the face of overwhelming difficulty, when everything else seems to have failed this was his advice;
‘You need not utterly despair…for if all your arguments and persuasiveness fail, there is yet another remedy left, and one that is frequently found effectual, when no other method avails. This is prayer. Therefore, whatsoever you desire or want, either for others or for your own soul, “Ask, and it shall be given you.”
Corporate Prayer
Prayer meetings are: 8 am on the first Saturday of the month and 8pm the third Wednesday of each month, everyone welcome, in the church hall. Prayer is vital for church family life, our family conversation with the Lord guides, encourages and inspires us.

Personal Prayer
We encourage everyone at St Mark’s to spend time with the Lord, simply having a conversation with Him. If you are struggling, life’s challenges seem overwhelming, contact us, we have a prayer helpline and trained pastoral volunteers who will confidentially and sensitively support you.
Prayer resources
Wherever you are in your journey and prayer life, there are resources that will help. Start with the Bible, it is the best guide to prayer available.
Pray Psalm 23 if you have no words.
Matthew 6:9-13 is the most practical way to pray out there.
Sunday Prayer
After Sunday Services and during communion there will be trained people who can pray with you. Confidential and discreet, this is a wonderful way to deal with problems big and small.
Prayer Helpline
The purpose of the Helpline (via email) is to provide prayer support when requested. This is often in emergency situations and the prayers are urgent.
Helpline members (approx.30), commit themselves to pray and to maintain absolute confidentiality. New members are always welcome.
