This passage has negative and positive commands, and specific instructions.
This is a problem for us - how do we deal with such a list? Temptation to deny the body. It only attacks the symptoms, not the problem.

What do we have to do? 1-4
Set our hearts and minds on things above because we have died and been raised with Christ. We are spiritually united with him.
1. Because Christ, our sinful nature has died with him.
2. Because Christ was raised, we have been raised with him.
He does not mean that we don't experience sinful desires.
1. We are to seek things above because that is where Christ is.
2. We should seek things above because we get our strength from Christ.

Will you have a heavenly or earthly mindset?

Like the Israelites in the wilderness, we need to look to God for our needs.
What does this mean? We need to trust him. We need to be in God's word. We must be seeking him daily in prayer. We must seek fellowship of other Christians.
