The stone and the guard said "no entrance" but could not enforce "no exit". Peter might have thought that Jesus wouldn't wish to see him again but Jesus is so much bigger than we are. He told the women he wished to see Peter and he re-commissioned him. Jesus does not treat us as our sins deserve.
