For the pharisees , as long as a person didn't have sex outside marriage he was OK. Similarly as long as the paperwork was OK it was fine to divorce. In the West it is held that romantic and sexual relations are the highest form of living. This is a lie. Relationship with Jesus is the only source of satisfaction for our longings. The way to purity is not by working harder but by seeking our deepest intimacy in Jesus.
