The thread of freedom runs through the passage.
For the Corinthians and Obama, freedom meant/means the absence of restrictions. This is a key value in our culture. This thought pattern is coming into our church. 1 Cor. 6 helps us understand God's view.

Paul addresses the Corinthians' minds - 'Do you not know?' pervades the passage.
What is Paul's solution?
He places constraints on the view of the Corinthians. Christian freedom is not the absence of restrictions, but the presence of the right restrictions.
We are free to do what builds other people up.
We must not be mastered by anything other than Christ.
Once we were mastered by these things, but now we are set free. We must avoid anything that threatens to master is. Some things can be enslaving because of our attitude to it.
