While we were still sinners, Christ died for us

Preacher:
Passage: Romans 5:1-11
Service Type:

Do we believe God loves us? Knowing how much God loves us underpins our faith.
We are all sinners and there is nothing we can do about it.
But, if we put our trust in Jesus, we can be declared righteous, justified.
Consequences:
1. We are at peace with God.
2. We stand in grace with a promise of eternal life.
3. We boast in the hope of the glory of God. It is that hope on which our faith and Christian life is based.
What if that hope is misplaced? We know it is not.
1. He has poured his love into our hearts - we know his love is real because we feel it.
2. At the cross he died for us and shows how much he loves us.
Paul describes our condition and the magnitude of God's love.
1. He describes us as wicked.
2. He describes us as sinners.
3. He describes us as enemies of God.
Paul us the cost of God's love:
Christ died on our behalf.
How can we know God's love?
1. Reflect on what God has done.
2. Pray that the Spirit will open our hearts to his love.
