We should not be surprised when we suffer. In fact Peter says we should rejoice! At the same time we should not invite suffering for the wrong reasons and we should not be ashamed if we suffer as a Christian. This suffering is part of God's great work of cleansing and renewing; our response should be to trust and obey (vs19).
