Jesus tells the parable of the vineyard to answer the Jewish religious leaders who had questioned his authority. Jesus is the son of the vineyard owner whom the tenants took, cast out and killed for their own selfish gain. Having looked at Jesus' claims for himself, the sermon goes on to apply the parable to those who have any leadership role in today's church.
