Contrast the priests' commission to the soldiers with Jesus' commission to his disciples. The priests had very little authority but Jesus has all authority in heaven and on earth. The soldiers were to spread a lie and the disciples to make more disciples. The priests would make things right with the governor but Jesus would be with his disciples to the end of the age.
